Customers at a popular independent living scheme are celebrating after the successful completion of a refurbishment project by Waterloo Housing.
The start of Barmote Croft's renovation works
Barmote Croft, which is in the popular market town of Wirksworth in the Derbyshire Dales, has been remodelled and improved from containing 12 bedsits to 8 one bedroom flats; the works have been welcomed by both employees and customers alike.
Mark Sixsmith, Project Surveyor at Waterloo Housing said: “Our original bedsit to flat pilot was so successful that we then drew up plans for the entire scheme to benefit from a remodelling, which included new kitchens, wet rooms, radiators, electrical rewiring as well as carpets and redecoration throughout. We are absolutely delighted with the results and would like to thank all those involved, especially our customers for their patience during the works. We hope they will be very happy in their new homes”
The project – which had a 42 week programme to complete – was carried out in stages to minimise disruption to the customers. The pilot and these recent works cost £450,000.
The contractor, Woodland Property Services Ltd – based in Derby – completed the project two weeks ahead of schedule and under budget.
Matthew Fearn, Managing Director of Woodland Property Services Ltd, said: “We were delighted to work in partnership with Waterloo Housing Group on the conversion work at Barmote Croft; as a family firm, community is extremely important to us and we are delighted to have helped improve the living accommodation for customers of the housing group.”
Waterloo Housing is part of Platform Housing Group which provides more than 45,000 homes from Herefordshire in the West to the Lincolnshire coast in the East, and from the Derbyshire Dales in the North to the Cotswolds in the South.
