We’ve been informed about a product recall affecting Whirlpool tumble dryers, and we’d like to share this information with our customers in the interest of public safety
The recall covers tumble dryers manufactured under the Whirlpool brands of Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan and Proline, made between 2004 and 2015.
Any residents who are concerned about their tumble dryers can check whether their model is affected on the Whirlpool website.
If their product is affected, they will have the option to:
• have it replaced free of charge
• opt for an upgrade
• have it fixed by an engineer
• choose a refund (depending on the age of their product).
The Government has estimated that the fault affecting these tumble dryers has caused up to 750 fires in the last 11 years. It’s therefore essential that anyone with one of the affected products follows the steps outlined on the Whirlpool website.
By appliances we mean items such as your cooker, fridge, washing machine, tumbler dryer, etc...
Whether your appliances are brand new or you have had them for years, we would encourage you to get them registered.
Supported by the Government, AMDEA (Association of Manufacturers of Domestic Appliances) recommends that the public use the Register my appliance web portal (found at www.registermyappliance.org.uk). This was designed by the industry to make the task of registering quicker and easier. The portal allows the registration of over 60 brands, of both new and older appliances. By simply clicking on the brand logo, you will reach a form linked directly to the relevant manufacturer. Most companies will accept registrations of products up to 12 years old.
By doing this, you will ensure you receive any safety updates or product recalls on your appliance which will help keep you safe.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, we will be issuing regular updates via the News sections of our corporate website:
These will outline the steps we are taking to try and ensure essential services are still provided while also ensuring the health and safety of all our customers, colleagues, contractors and wider communities.
